WASHINGTON (AFP) - For the first time, a majority of American women are living without a spouse, media reported.

The New York Times, which based its report on an analysis of census results, said 51 percent of women in 2005 reported living without a spouse, up from 35 percent in 1950 and 49 percent in 2000.

"Coupled with the fact that in 2005 married couples became a minority of all American households for the first time, the trend could ultimately shape social and workplace policies, including the ways government and employers distribute benefits," the newspaper said.

It said that several factors are behind the shift including women marrying at a later age and living with partners for more often and for longer periods. Women are also living longer as widows and once divorced, often opt to stay single, the report said.

According to the Census figures, only about 30 percent of black women are living with a spouse, compared with 49 percent of Hispanic women, 55 percent of non-Hispanic white women and more than 60 percent of Asian women.

Women who complain about this fact should be thanking the hordes of feminists who whined and pushed for "no fault divorce" which effectively transformed the institution of marriage into a suicidal contract for most men. Keep in mind, roughly 90% of divorces are initiated by women. Sorry gals, but you can't eat your cake and have it too! How can you expect a man to make such a commitment when the likely hood is that within 7-8 years, his wife is going to hit him up with a "no fault divorce" and take his house, his kids, his bank account and essentially turn him into a financial slave for decades to come. These women are unmarried because they're most likely ugly, fat complainers or materialistic nutcases who find fault in any man they meet that doesn't look like (and have the wallet size of) Brad Pitt.

Not to mention too much baggage. By the time they're in their 30s, and have had the obligatory 715 one-night-stands and 25 idiot boyfriends, they're sexually emotionally and physically burned out and can do nothing but whine.

They all end up alone in coffeehouses on Saturday night because their youthful years were dedicated to hedonism and in adulthood, no one cares any longer.

They are also subject to high rates of having been abused as children, having been abused by husbands, having had a terrible life owing to social decline, and other forms of resentment. Hilariously, they become apolitical in defense, eliminating their one form of potential hope.
