    Former military types

Any former military types roaming the boards? It would be nice to speak about some of the goings on in the military world, even though it is probably not a hot topic in this particular crowd.

I dont think this really belongs in the military strategy thread so im crossing my fingers that this is a proper home.

    Thanks in advance.

What in particular do you want to talk about?

    VPWR,

Yes, what do you wish to discuss? There a few of us here.

From my experience, former military types often have a warped view of reality, built largely upon spending time in the service.

From my experience everyone has a warped view of reality based on their life experiences. Since your view of reality is based on how you have experienced it.

I'm not convinced that America's obsession with the military, from WWII forward, has done that much good. People who spent a lot of time in the military are brainwashed into thinking that sort of life is "normal." Then they become confused when they have to deal with the real world.

You can say the same about a lot of things. How about the education system including college, that is not “normal” life and you find lots of people who have spent much of their lives in it and are confused about the “real world”.

As one who spent some years in the army during the war in Vietnam with one year in country, I must qualify as a former military type. I find many who post here have some libertarian impulses that they use to justify their not serving in the military.

Admitting that not seriving keeps them from danger will not be confessed by them. Leaving that task to othes they regard as suckers is their due in life. I feel sure that this sentiment exists with this shit.

Seeing much blood can make a man think of consequences far beyond profit and loss statements that make up the real world for most. I disagree, but I am sure most will not countenance my opinion. It is far too easy to think that writing internet messages is as dangerous as facing an enemy armed with rifles and rockets.

The Monitor and his kind will employ all subterfuges to escape danger. May the day come when he has to fight for his life.

Well it's official: The Monitor has arrived!
